Within a short distance of 10 km is the village of Afitos, which is known for its quaintness and Mediterranean character. The Folklore Museum of Afitos exhibits ceramics, textiles and works of art, while the festival of Afitos features street art exhibits and live music in the summer The church of Agios Dimitrios dating back to 1800 presides over the central square. Strolling through the alleys of the village will transport you to another era while the local restaurants (tavernas) will acquaint you to Greek tradition.

Ancient Olynthos

Ancient Olynthos is built at a prominent site near the coast of Toroneos Gulf on two hills and at a distance of about 4 km from the sea. It is among the most ancient cities of Halkidiki, with a long history as according to historical evidence it has been inhabited since the Neolithic Age. It is considered a very significant historical monument of Halkidiki as it presents interesting archaeological findings. Excavations have brought to light several ancient findings of great significance due to their age, such as the impressive mosaic floors, some of which are still preserved today, but also findings relating to the particular architecture of Olynthos which seems to reflect the famous Hippodamean system.
